19-22 April 2015
Just after the end of my PhD I was invited at the NC15 with my colleague Stefano Puggelli to present a contribution. The topic was, of course, the metal temperature estimation of gas turbine combustors. š

Interestingly, I will hardly forget this business trip, for two reasons:
1. The location of the conference was probably one of the best in the world. The event was in fact held in the Palais des Papes in the lately capital of the Avignon Papacy.
2. The event was actually a turning point for the research activity in our team. Motivated by the comparison against the participants at the conference, we decided to start working hard to introduce reactive LES in our activity.
Keep in mind that at that time we were working with CFX performing only RANS simulations with the eddy dissipation model and 2-steps mechanisms…
I am proud to say that within a few years the quality of our works has soared. You don’t believe? Take a look at my last publications on ResearchGate! š
